We are a small and passionate team with a vision for building the world's best text editor, for individuals and for teams.
This is not our first editor. It carries more than a decade of experience building developer tools, hackable editing environments, desktop app platforms, and syntax systems used by many of the most popular editors in the world.
Now, we are building something new again with the same drive and a new vision. We believe the best software is handcrafted with unusual attention to detail, and that software development becomes better when it is shared.
We think there is a better way to write code, and it starts with the following assumptions.
Mission-critical tools should be hyper-responsive
When you move the cursor or type a character, pixels should arrive on the next refresh of the display every time. Even pauses that feel barely perceptible can add up over a long working day.
Real-time collaboration produces better software
Pull requests matter, but sometimes you want to build together. Working side by side can be more enjoyable than review, build trust between colleagues, and make knowledge move through a team more naturally.
Conversations should happen close to code
Code conversations should not require a commit, a push, or a paste into a separate chat. Treating edits as the basic unit of change makes it easier to discuss any line in any working copy.
Your editor should disappear
If a tool is open for hours each day, every pixel has to earn its place. The software being created should stay in focus, while the editor reduces noise and keeps the path to each task clear.
